Challenge

Having worked with us on a series of successful lead-generating ebooks for adults, Oxfam asked us to create a beautiful, informative ebook for children to help parents answer difficult questions about unfairness in the world.

Strategy

The idea for this project was sparked by a young children’s picture book created by Oxfam Germany, titled Why is the world unfair?

The team at Oxfam Australia wanted to create a book with the same title but for older primary-aged children, to use as an online lead-generation tool through a value exchange strategy.

The purpose of the book was to help parents answer tough questions and guide meaningful discussions about issues that can be upsetting and confusing for children, as they become aware of news about the world around them. This book was also intended to help children develop a sense of justice and show them how they can help make the world a more equal place for everyone.

We worked closely with the Oxfam team to settle on the ideal age range for the book, the topics to cover, and the style and tone of the content. We then worked alongside our creative partners at Tone to develop a highly engaging and educational book aimed at children aged 8 – 10.

The completed book uses stunning illustrations, stories and factual information to answer big questions including ‘Why are their wars?’ and ‘Why do some people go hungry’.
