Artificial Intelligence Policy

Updated December 2025

Our values and approach

At Change&Co. we believe in doing good, better. We strive to align our work with our values of creativity, flexibility, connection, honesty, and integrity – and a good dose of humour.

We pride ourselves on being ethical and professional, and on our very human abilities to create effective campaigns that connect with donors through genuine heart and passion.

Our AI policy is based on these values and underpinned by our commitment to transparency around the ways in which we use machine-assisted technologies.

AI when working with clients and partners

Artificial intelligence technologies are evolving rapidly. As transformative tools with great potential to enhance our service delivery, they also create challenges to our creative endeavours, including bias, copyright concerns, misinformation, and the potential disparities in intellectual capabilities between humans and AI technologies.

At Change&Co, we approach these technologies with curiosity and thoughtfulness: as a resource to streamline specific processes rather than a substitute for the unique human qualities of creativity, empathy, and strategic insight.

In this spirit, we wish to outline our commitments and guiding principles regarding the use of AI.

Our commitment to responsible use of emerging technologies

We currently use automated and machine-assisted tools such as ChatGPT, Poe, and Perplexity to:

  • Speed up research, freeing up valuable time to focus on campaign strategy and creative development
  • Test headlines
  • Conduct deeper, faster data analysis plus review insights or challenge assumptions
  • Take notes in non-confidential meetings.

We do not use these tools to:

  • Seek or curate information based on confidential or sensitive case study information we feed into AI systems
  • Write content for client campaigns
  • Replace human quality control on any material written by our content team.

Before using technology-assisted processes, we will always consider any ethical, legal, or reputational risks to ourselves and our clients.

Our guiding principles

  1. Human-led; AI-assisted: artificial intelligence supports some aspects of our work, but never replaces human creativity, judgement, empathy, or strategic insight.
  2. Compliant: We will follow best practices and relevant Australian legislation and guiding principles regarding the use of AI, data protection/information security, and IP, including (but not limited to):
  1. Risk: Any AI system undergoes rigorous testing before it is deployed to ensure it is secure, dependable and mitigates the risks to our business and that of our clients. We will rely on our Information Security Management System to manage these risks.
  2. High quality: Any AI output is thoroughly fact-checked, reviewed and/or edited by our team.
  3. Ethical: We carefully select AI tools that demonstrate a mutually agreeable commitment to fairness, privacy, and responsible development.

Data privacy and protection

  1. Confidentiality: We will never share your organisation’s sensitive or personal data, images or videos with any public AI models.
  2. Data security: We only use tools that comply with UK, Australian, and New Zealand fundraising best practices and data protection regulations. Should a data breach occur, we defer to our Information Security Management System to manage said breach.
  3. Anonymisation: Should we use an AI tool to assist with data analysis, we anonymise and aggregate information to protect individual and client confidentiality.

Policy Review:

Because of the ever-evolving nature of AI, we will review this policy each year and adjust our approach where necessary. Any future changes to this policy will be made in line with our values, and will take into consideration the best interests of both Change&Co and the clients we work with.
